Becoming A Writer: Expectation VS Reality

 Writing: Expectations VS Reality

People dream of a life to spend as a writer, and expect the dream would come alive so easily. Since it is just a dream, that means it’s far away from the truth. Though, there are a ;ot of successful writers out there; They didn’t become famous by just dreaming it. There are a lot of certain levels of steps associated with their success. Oliver Isaacs, a famous interpreneur, says in an article “Try, try, try. Fail. And try again until you succeed and achieve your goals. This is hard work. Hard work isn’t a one-time thing. It’s a series of continuous efforts in a particular time span, with pure dedication and a clear vision of the goal you want to achieve.”

To become a successful writer is not just to write a book, publish it and earn money. It is to become addicted to writing, writing everyday, rewriting, editing, and improving everyday. Hard work polishes the talent and the desire to become a successful writer. It takes certain steps to follow constantly.

          Write Everyday

If you desire to become a writer, you need to write every day. You  probably should write all day.I read a quote that “Writing is like a muscle; you have to exercise it regularly to develop and keep it in shape. Any individual who has ever worked hard  knows the im[ortance of varying your routine in order to keep the muscles developing.” I strongly agree with this statement that writing is a muscle that needs to be trained. I have experienced that if we write every day we grow with vocabulary, language understanding, Plotting ideas, and many more other things.

Although, writing all day isn’t a good idea, because we have got other stuff. On the other hand, writing needs a schedule to follow constantly. Roald Dahl says he writes in the morning and Stephen King writes  before noon, and you can write at whatever time you want, and open a trap door and let all the words fall into your notebook. Make a rhythm going and do it everyday, if it is just a paragraph. You need to make a habit of doing it.

      Make Writing A habit

Habit is really a rhythm going on; it is a constant effort for achieving desired goals. Make writing a habit and you’ll eventually get in the zone each time you sit down. And if you’re lucky, you might occasionally be hit by good ideas. Expecting to become a writer isn’t bad but it can mess up the standards by which you measure your success as a writer. This reality shouldn’t be a surprise.;it simply is what to expect, so you can’t get disappointed.

The road to becoming a successful writer is long and not smooth. We expect for things that either won’t happen or will take years to achieve.constant habit is the only way to become a writer. Writers are the individuals who write only when they feel inspired. Behind every word is a daily struggle and battle of finding words.

You will get Inspired All The Time

Writing ideas and inspirations come from different ways. Sometimes you have to let a story simmer in your head before you actually start writing. There are a lot more ways to go about it. You will get inspired all the time; ideas would come to you in many ways. Inspirations will hit you when you’re in the grocery store, in the bathroom, on the phone, in the kitchen, or playing with kids, etc. That would be all around you, whisking you away from unnecessary thoughts like ‘have I let the door open?’ or ‘I need to do chores?’, instead you’ll deal with more important work; your novel. Inspirations and ideas will hit you any time, it will surprise you enexpectedly. You just have to write them down, or it will be lost.

   Reading Helps to Write

I strongly prefer to read on a daily basis if you want to write better, and if you don’t read, it also helps you to express in a way you want to be recognized. For instance, if you’re writing a romance novel, you need to read a lot about that specific genre, and research the niche. Moreover, you will analyze how other writers write love stories. How they express the scenes in their novels. By doing so, you will figure out that you have done research and improved your writing.

  Keep Notes of Everything

Inspiration and ideas last for a few moments, so write as soon as it comes to your mind.. and what it probably offers is sudden clarity.  Keep  notes and develop your skills. Because writers are keepers; take a notebook and have a pen to capture that comes to your mind. Try to record everything that surrounds you, Step by step, you will figure out how to structure, and plot a novel. Make notes of characters, words, transitions, verbs. Someday, you will understand how to approach things in your writing. Moreover, your notes will unlock your creativity, and help you expand your narrative style.
